Massage
| |
Massage or Massage Therapy is a
hands-on manipulation of the soft tissues of the body which include muscles,
connective tissue, tendons, ligaments and joints. It is a healthy way to
increase energy flow, improve immune system
functioning, rid the body of
uncomfortable, daily or occupational stresses,
ease muscle aches and stiffness,
and relax tight muscles
due to muscular overuse and chronic pain syndromes. It has the ability to
greatly reduce the development of painful muscular patterning, if employed
early enough after accidents involving trauma & injury.
Massage
therapists work to improve the circulation of blood and lymph through the
body and to speed the removal of metabolic waste products from muscles.
Their skilled kneading increases the flexibility of muscles, ligaments, and
other soft tissues. Some people visit a massage therapist to relieve pain or
to warm up before a sporting event. Others go to relax and reduce stress.
There are many
different kinds of massage. You will find that each massage therapist is
unique in their approach and in their touch... the way their hands feel on
your body.
